transmitter







here a simple explanation about transmitter....:p

A transmitter is an electronic device which, usually with the aid of an antenna, propagates an electromagnetic signal such as radio, television, or other telecommunications

Transmitter usually has a power supply, an oscillator, a modulator, and amplifiers for audio frequency (AF) and radio frequency (RF). The modulator used to modulates the signal information onto the carrier frequency, which is then broadcast. Devices that contain both a transmitter and a radio receiver, with the combined unit referred to as a transceiver. The term applies to wireless communications devices such as cellular telephones, cordless telephone sets, handheld two-way radios, and mobile two-way radios. Occasionally the term is used in reference to transmitter/receiver devices in cable or optical fiber systems.

In a radio transceiver, the receiver is silenced while transmitting. An electronic switch allows the transmitter and receiver to be connected to the same antenna, and prevents the transmitter output from damaging the receiver. With a transceiver of this kind, it is impossible to receive signals while transmitting. This mode is called half duplex. Transmission and reception often, but not always, are done on the same frequency.

There also have transceivers that are designed to allow reception of signals during transmission periods. This mode is known as full duplex, and requires that the transmitter and receiver operate on substantially different frequencies so the transmitted signal does not interfere with reception. Cellular and cordless telephone sets use this mode. Satellite communications networks often employ full-duplex transceivers at the surface-based subscriber points. The transmitted signal (transceiver-to-satellite) is called the uplink, and the received signal (satellite-to-transceiver) is called the downlink.

below are the simple circuit of FM transmitter....



  1. L1 and L2 are 5 turns of 28 AWG enamel coated magnet wire wound with a inside diameter of about 4mm. The inside of a ballpoint pen works well (the plastic tube that holds the ink). Remove the form after winding then install the coil on the circuit board, being careful not to bend it.
  2. C5 is used for tuning. This transmitter operates on the normal broadcast frequencies (88-108MHz).
  3. Q1 and Q2 can also be 2N3904 or something similar.
  4. You can use 1/4 W resistors mounted vertically instead of 1/8 W resistors.
  5. You may want to bypass the battery with a .01uf capacitor.
  6. An antenna may not be required for operation.
